Moving

An update for readers who have noted that I am posting much less as of late. We are in the (hoped for) final week of our move to the new Big Stick HQ. I have made roughly 12 trips between the old house and the new house and we have rounded the corner to the point where it actually feels like we have made significant progress. This of course means that I don’t have a lot of time for blogging – though to be sure I have no intention of letting this become a longterm absence. With midterms this year and the inevitable humor associated with moving into a new house on the horizon I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

An ancillary issue that has kept me from blogging more regularly is that I gave up reading political blogs for Lent. This means less fodder for discussion but more free time for me. So far my Google Reader account shows 149 unread posts in my ‘Politics’ folder. It will be interesting to see if I choose to delete them or read them after Easter.

I’m going to try to hit a few education-related subjects this week so stay tuned. In the meantime,  send boxes and packing tape my way.

Mike, if you were closer I’d hitch up the trailer to the Pilot on Saturday and help. Since I can’t, here’s some vitrual support! Looking forward to more discussions of the new place, and all the joys it brings!

Maybe reading less current events would incline you to do more of the theory stuff. I like that anyway.
Good to see you’re taking the move with a sense of humor. Life is one long progression of ironies.

    • You are correct Will. Yesterday I was showing my father-in-law my plans for the backyard and tracked mud back into the house. My wife and mother-in-law acted like I had just murdered someone in the living room. I just gave them the ‘no point crying over spilled milk’ look and went on with my work. You’ve got to laugh or that stuff will make you crazy.

  3. I’d just delete the backlog and start over. Honestly … history likes repeating itself, so you really won’t have missed anything if you give it long enough!
