John Adams

I read David McCullough’s John Adams biography in 2004 just before my wife and I went to Boston on our honeymoon. I enjoyed it greatly and it made th trip to his birthplace and various other historic sites much more interesting.
Right now I am watching the HBO series of the same name and so far it has been equally entertaining. Adams was a flawed man, like all of our Founding Fathers, but no doubt an extremely important one. What they are also doing a good job of demonstrating is the important role that his wife Abigail played in his public life, as a supporter and a friendly critic at times.
If you don’t have time for the book, rent the series. It’s worth the 7+ hours and provides a fresh view of our nation’s founding.

I’m so glad you discovered this series. The theme song is just golden too. I actually haven’t been able to bring myself to finish the series, because I know what’s coming, and it’s just too sad. Noooo Abby…
Well since I read the book I guess some of the mystery is out of the can… but he does have 8 years of correspondance with Thomas Jefferson to entertain.
The theme music sounds eerily similar to Last of the Mohicans. Perhaps the same composer?
Part III should arive from Netflix today.
