Lieberman’s Speech
September 2, 2008 6 Comments

I can’t help but wonder…why does a Democrat bolt their party to speak at the Republican convention every four years?
Decent speech by Joe. Certainly not the energy level of Day 2 at the DNC…but it’ll do for now. The real fun starts tomorrow.

Technically Lieberman is an independent. Maybe he has realized that in today’s political environment he is reaching the end of his career’s lifespan and decided to make certain that he got everyone’s goat before he left office.
I’m hopeful that if McCain wins he will offer Joe a nice spot in his administration. I think Sec. of State would be a good fit. I’d love to see Iran having to sit across the table from him.
Chuck Hagel would also be a good person for that position although he might be tapped for Sec Def. I’m sure that should McCain win Lieberman will get a cabinet position though.
It’s fairly common for someone of the other party to talk at a convention, like Jim Leach at the DNC. I don’t see this as interesting at all.
Ian,
what’s notable is that the Dems tend to make a lot of hay when they speak at the RNC. Zell Miller used napalm, for pete’s sake.
That said, Lieberman was relatively tame.

Miller’s was really one for the ages. It was perfectly crafted, firery, Southern rhetoric.
