Side-effect of Biden Selection: Securing the Catholic Vote
August 25, 2008 1 Comment
Faithful Progressive reports that a prominent Catholic group has already endorsed the selection of Joe Biden as Obama’s VP nominee. As previously mentioned Catholics are one of the last great swing votes and they have accurately selected the winner of the Presidency in every election since 1972.
Joe Biden’s commitment to his Catholic faith may be enough to sway some Catholics who are prone to vote Democrat this year but suspcious of Obama on issues like abortion. I don’t know if this benefit was forseen by Obama but it could prove to be important piece in his election strategy in the coming months.
I think it was forseen – it’ll also play well in moderate religious groups, as Biden openly talks about his faith, and it’s beyond reproach. BTW, I like your new banner
