I prefer to shoot the bag using high caliber rifles. ;-)

I've always compared shooting with yoga. Think about it. Muscle control, regulated breathing, focusing to the exclusion of everything else around you. Relaxing your mind and body. Plus, it goes "BOOM!"

I do know what you mean by wanting to get a good burn going though. When I need to deal with too much pent up energy, my other outlet was mountain biking. Nothing like going like hell through the woods on your bike like you're being chased by a bear. Or for that matter, going like hell through the woods on your bike BECAUSE you're being chased by a bear.

Hey, it could happen. We's got's bears!

If we had more room at home I would have one of those as well. As it is I do most of my workouts at the gym. The YMCA has good heavy bags, but no mats or anything. Bummer.

I just bought a heavy bag, but for a totally different reason. My new heavy bag (well it is actually used- only cost $20) will be used for shouldering and burpees. Basically picking its 80lbs off the floor and slamming it back down again. Trust me, it is painful but fun.
