2002 prius and a 1991 miata over here.

the miata avgs 30+ mpg on the street. i dunno about hwy, 'cuz we never take it on one ...

the prius -- this tank -- is avging 45.2 mpg on the street, and that's using the air conditioning! last tank, i did a lot of hwy driving ... we were at 53 mpg ...

but it still costs $45 each to fill up the tanks ... $45 for the gas tanks of clown cars ... sheesh!

$250,000?

That's a lowball, I'd guess.

Yes...and people wonder why American auto manufacturers are struggling to stay afloat. It's not like the Japanese have a crystal ball that helps them predict market trends. The Big 3 apparently think everyone still likes to take sunday drives with 12 people in their Caprice Classic or spend their Saturdays hauling bails of hay from farm to farm.

We have a Rav4 that I can only justify because I hunt 8-9 months of the year and don't drive much the rest of the time. Our other car is a brand-new Nissan Versa that gets primo mileage. If I could see that one coming, why couldn't an auto exec making $250,000 / year?

Yup.

I've heard reports of car dealerships that won't take SUV's as trade-ins. They can't move them anymore.

Aaaaaand amazingly enough, once again, the Big 3 never saw this coming. Do you think they employ ANYONE old enough to remember the 70's?
