Stating the Obvious

Although recent events have made me realize internet privacy is something to be defended passionately, I feel a small divulsion is in order, which is probably obvious to most already. The Big Stick is headquartered proudly in the greatest city on earth, Louisville, KY. I have been here for over 30 years and to paraphrase a line from, A River Runs Through It, “I’ll never leave Kentucky brother.”

I am stating this because as I slowly fill up my blogroll with sites I find interesting, it was inevitable that some would be Kentucky-oriented or at least, Kentucky-associated. Also, I found our references to the KY Derby and to the upcoming NRA conference let the cat out of the bag.

So we have re-sorted our blogrolls once again. I find this process is almost as hard as choosing seating arrangements for my wedding, which my wife insisted I help with. For now, we are using four categories and of course, these are subject to change.

Linkage: This will be a catch-all for those sites which we enjoy but fall into several broad categories. They might be conservative, liberal, centrist, some combination or none of the above.

Kentucky’s Best: This will be for sites associated with the Bluegrass State.

Sites: Everything else.

Board Certified Progressives: This spot is where we put those sites which we feel exemplify or are helping to define our own vision for modern Progressivism. We hope that many of our friends from the Linkage section will eventually move into this group.

As for the Kentucky references, I will try hard to keep them nationally-relevant. The only exception to this rule will be if anyone wants to talk high school football or complain about Louisville’s mayor-for-life, Jerry Abramson. I will happily entertain those two topics ad nauseum.
