In light of the Pope’s visit to America I wanted to share this cartoon from a couple of years ago. I always enjoyed it and I think it says something about the attitude of a lot of Catholics these days. Sad but true…

Hah! So, I think this is correct, and I think the church has gone too far, but maybe not the Catholics, really. The real ones guilty of this, I think, are the evangelical “fast food” type churches, the ones that brought you “The Prayer of Jabez.”
Remember that? The whole, “say 8 words a night, and you’ll get everything you want”? It was a bestseller… that’s a damn low point for religion, right there.
